Sharon Stevens of Stevens Family Bakery & Orchard in Springfield was inspired to start a pie making business after winning a blue ribbon for her pecan pie at the 1998 Champaign County Fair. She and her husband Chris then decided to plant an orchard to support the ingredients needed for the pies. They never expected their half-baked business ideas to flourish quite like they have.
