At the 16th annual art exhibition at the Richard & Barbara Basch Gallery on the campus of Ringling College of Art & Design we all had the honor and privilege of watching world renowned artist Richard Royal give a demonstration of his techniques and creative energy over the course of 2 hours of pure fun and creativity. It was an honor to witness.
The biggest surprise was that for the exhibition we also had another art glass master for the show opening, Martin Blank. He was not set to do a demo, but in a move that surprised everyone, including I think Martin himself, he joined in with the crew to help create this piece. The historical irony here was that many years ago Martin Blank was trained and gaffed for Richie Royal. So the two masters came full circle on this day. What an honor it was to watch!
