In Part 3 of this canoe trip series, I leave Bigshell Lake, and enter Sabourin Creek, where I am paddling into a zone of WCPP which experienced a huge “snow-down” blowdown in the fall of 2012. Many of the killed trees are still falling down. In narrow Sabourin creek I encounter lots and lots of blowdown. I had to bushwhack around some of it, but most of it I could get out on logs and slide my boat over. I encounter beaver and moose on film, and not able to film was a bear that I fired a bear banger to encourage it to take off! :o) I had to cut out some blowdown to make a campsite. Always carry a big saw (and preferably an axe too) when travelling in the Boreal back country – you will likely need it!

This is part 3 of my 24 day solo canoe trip in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, in August 2014. I plan several more videos in this trip series. Thanks for watching!
