No commentary playthrough of Bloodshot (aka Battle Frenzy) for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. I can't remember if it had difficulty settings, but if they were, it was played on normal.
As a couple of notes: I am playing a patched version with fixed corrupt textures. I am also playing on an emulated, overclocked to oblivion Megadrive to be able to get playable framerates. On the first level recording, I've included a second playthrough at default speed.
There are things which should have never happened. One of them are FPS games for the 16bit consoles, as it has been proven that it was a recipe for disaster. Bloodshot plays bad, lacks any real in-game music (except for a couple of sustained notes that repeat all the time), lacks player sprites, runs terribly bad, and even has corrupt textures on the release version. There is a SegaCD version which is exactly the same thing, no improvements, albeit with CD music.
The objective is simple, reach the generator room, destroy it, and go back to the beginning of the level before the self-destruct timer reaches 0... For 12 levels that can be beaten in an hour. Too bad that with the default speed of the game, it is a PAINFUL experience. To make things worse, the game has a system where you get more and more rewards the more enemies you kill without taking damage, not only encouraging cheap tactics, but this is mandatory if you want to beat the last level.

Como par de notas previas: Estoy jugando una versión parcheada del juego que arregla las texturas rotas. También está jugado en un emulador, con la Megadrive overclockeada hasta el infinto para poder obtener una tasa de fotogramas jugable. He incluido un segundo playthrough a velocidad normal en el vídeo del primer nivel.
Hay cosas que no deberían haber ocurrido. Una de ellas son los FPS en las consolas de 16bits, ya que quedó probado que era una receta para el desastre. Bloodshot se juega mal, carece de música in-game (salvo por un par de notas sostenidas que se repiten de seguido), carece de sprites de jugador, corre terriblemente mal, y lo que es peor, tiene texturas corruptas en la versión que se vendio. Existe una versión para el MegaCD que es exactamente lo mismo, sin mejoras, a excepción de música de CD.
El objetivo es simple, alcanzar la habitación del generador, destruirlo, y volver al inicio del nivel antes de que la cuenta atrás de auto destrucción llegue a 0... durante 12 niveles que pueden ser despachados en una hora. Una lástima que con la velocidad a la que corre el juego, es una experiencia DOLOROSA. Para hacer las cosas peor, el juego tiene un sistema donde cuantos más enemigos matas sin recibir daño, más y más recompensas obtienes, no solo animando a usar tácticas baratas, sino que es mandatorio para superar el último nivel.
