Sidney Sheldon's "Bloodline" was a movie released in 1979, based on the novel. It was a critical and commercial failure. Despite the cast of stars at the time and the amount of money invested to acquire the rights to the book in addition to making the movie, it wound up not being very good. It was even described as trashy by Siskel and Ebert, both giving that stinker a two thumbs down.
But, as usual, the soundtrack by Ennio Morricone is not bad, and certainly one redeeming thing about the movie.
However, the factory scene ... called "Pills on Parade" ... had two different musical tracks recorded. The first track by Ennio Morricone wound up being unused, replaced by a far more upbeat electronic track by Craig Huxley, who has been working in music since he was a kid (he even recorded three jazz albums in his youth), is quite the Trekker (Star Trek fan) even going so far as to star in a couple of episodes of the original Star Trek series, and invented the Blaster Beam instrument that was used in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," among other films.
The music has been sourced from a near mint phonograph record using high quality playback equipment as detailed at the end of the video.
However, the Craig Huxley version of "Pills on Parade" sounds a little muffled at times, likely the effect of the KLH Burwen Research DNF 1201A noise reduction unit used with the master tape by Varèse Sarabande, the record label responsible for the soundtrack album.
The soundtrack was reissued as a special edition on Compact Disc, limited to 2,000 copies. I wasn't going to spend up to $50 for that...
