A preview of my in-progress Bloodborne series. Here's to hoping I finish it! See full description for strategy breakdown.

Shown in this video is a conservative strategy for the Undead Giant in the Lower Phtumerian Labyrinth at low levels with only +6 weapons. I might redo this fight at a later time to show a more aggressive approach, but the concepts are pretty much established here.

You'll want at least three Bolt Papers to improve your damage output, as well as a full stock of Bone Marrow Ash. In the first phase, continually dodge to the enemy's left as shown here. Hit the left leg once or twice, then back away to prevent yourself from being kicked. Do not target the growth on the right hip; you want to save this for the second phase. If the enemy winds up to pound the ground with the club, you can go in for a hit, then dodge for additional hits in following successive ground pounds. Eventually you'll stagger him. If you are in good position, a charged R2 (with the Saw Spear as shown here) does more damage than a visceral, but the visceral is a safer bet.

Ensure that you refresh Bolt Paper just before you drop him below 50% health and initiate the second phase. After the ground slam, stay as close to him as possible. This will generally prompt him to stick to his first-phase move set so you don't have to deal with the wind-up swings with huge range. Go into trick mode (he is weak to thrust attacks) and destroy the tumor.

Now you have a choice. If you have additional Bolt Papers, you can continue to stay close to him, but watch out for his ground slams, which he'll still perform. Also, if you get too far behind him, you'll trigger his spin move, which may force you to zone away.

If you do end up on the outside, you can opt for a safer route, though it requires more patience. Whittle him down with pistol shots using Bone Marrow Ash. His back takes a bit more damage, so wait until he does his wind-up hook swing, then shoot his back and run across the arena as is necessary to maintain your spacing. I've chosen here to zone away immediately after destroying the tumor to show the worst-case scenario, where you don't feel comfortable rushing in. As long as you keep a safe distance, you can chip him to death at range. Molotovs are another option, but are much more riskier than gunshots. I recommend using Blood Bullets and not being jumpy.

Anyway, even if I don't finish this series, I'll at least finally have made a Souls combat video. I've been wanting to do this since Demon's Souls, but Bloodborne is the first entry that feels like it fits well with my design philosophy. If you want to see more, let me know and that'll help motivate me to finish!

(Bonus points if you can guess the concept I'm developing here.)
