-------------

This is a full longplay of Blood II: The Chosen, first person shooter developed by Monolith Productions and released in 1998. I have installed some mods and fixes created by fans to be able to play it at 4K resolution, widescreen and AI enhanced textures, all this gives the game a HD remaster look, and I think visually it looks great.

The game changes a lot from its predecessor, from a completely new engine, the LithTech developed by Monolith itself, to the setting, which takes place a century later, in the future. These changes, along with having a more linear and “modernized” gameplay and being plagued with bugs from its release, created a lot of discontent among fans of the original.

Personally, it has been interesting to replay it to make this video, because I hadn't played the whole game since 2001 (which was when I was able to play it). I think it's not a bad game, but you can see in many things that it was made in a hurry (released in only 1 year compared to the previous one), and despite supposedly playing the latest version (the one on GOG), it still has bugs. And I've noticed things in the game a bit strange, like there seems to be localized damage on enemies but it doesn't always work.

Since I haven't played it for a long time, I play in what would be the normal difficulty “homicide”. This mode is really quite difficult, because from the level of the cathedral, at the end of the first chapter, there is a big increase in difficulty. The enemies are harder, and you have to be very careful because they react very fast and in a few seconds you will be dead if you are careless. Something I noticed, trying it on the easiest difficulty, is that in “homicide” the enemies have and cause like double or triple damage. The difference is huge. I don't want to imagine how it will be on the hardest difficulty.

Anyway, this longplay does not pretend to be perfect, nor the fast one (I never play speedrun mode) surely is not the best on YouTube, but it is my humble gameplay of a game that I wanted to revisit, even if it is not the best that Monolith has done, a company that I personally always liked a lot.
