In Utah, the BLM Kanab Field Office and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (GSENM) have helped coordinate local CBC activities since 2002. Besides inviting the general public to participate, the BLM, GSENM and community partners team up with local educators to get students involved and excited about bird watching. As part of the CBC event, BLM/GSENM experts engage 18 schools and over 5,000 youth with assembly-type presentations, field trips, and even a guest speaker who brings live raptors!
