One Foot in Front of the Other - Indeed, trying to get back to his wife all this time – and what with the bad dreams he’d just had about Romans getting there first – the old man has lost some sleep: his fighting is sloppy and unfocused. But he’s grumpy enough to survive.
He can sense in his bones that a new season has arrived. He often wonders, encountering warriors of increasing speed and skill, if he should call back to the spirits who once told him how much life he had left in him, how much life left in his foes, how much breath…
In fact the man has to call on the spirits briefly when he encounters a very skilled pair of Samurai who are honorable but wish to fight their equals simultaneously in an all-out brawl of sorts.
They caught the old man off guard at first, but out of the blue a friendly Raider (whom the old man recognized) came to his side in battle.
“When you don’t sleep well, you are very grumpy!” Mrs. Highlander used to say to him all the time. Those days seem like so long ago, the old man thinks. And she was right of course. At times like this he doesn't say much, he doesn't laugh, and when met by foes on the road, he's quick to accept an invitation to fight to the death.

And as a sidenote, the Warden and Orochi in this video did not ragequit (in fact the last time I played the Warden he beat me with clever guard breaks), and the brawlers at the end of the video are also good players, we went back and forth with their Kensei and Nobushi and afterwards one of them used Berserker and Shaman and beat us! I also want to make clear that in no way were they "ganking" -- they were playing a good, clean "all-out" brawl! That's all I wanted to add.

GOING SANE - Long ago, in the Springtime of their marriage, many villagers wondered how they always seemed content together. Some asked what their secret was. Their great secret was that they never kept secrets. There was never any doubt between them about loyalty, but moreover, they could share their most troubled thoughts with each other - their kindness was like a home within a home. “Look at you,” she told him one day when he’d returned from battle, “blood on your face blood on your hands. Sit down.”
“I fight some who are mad,” he said, taking a seat by the fire, “and I fear that, in fighting them over and over, their madness becomes mine. I dragged a Berserker down with my Claymore. That was moments ago. Now I’m back here with you. The Berserker fought me in a land far away. I don’t know how I got there, my Love. I don’t know how I got back from the place of blood whence I came. Here you and I. We are talking. I feel calm again. What is happening?”
She said, “Let us go outside. I have something to show you.”
They walked through some trees, and some of the trees said hello with a strange glow as it would soon become night. Then, when there was a little clearing, his wife stopped. With her hands she began digging at the dirt on the ground. He bent down and began digging with her. They dug. “Just a little more,” she said. “Careful, now, we do not want to ruin it.”
She reached down and pulled up a scroll. It was rolled and sealed with wax. She shook the dirt from it and it looked like brand new parchment.
“My father gave this to me. He said the ancient Bards speak to each other at all times and in this scroll are the words of a Bard from the future who spoke to him. My father wrote down what he heard. I have not read this. He made me promise to give this scroll to you, and he asked that you read it aloud to me. So that we may live forever.”
With the remaining light he opened the scroll and read it to his wife:

How to Take a Shower
Step 1) Climb out of bed. (There are various degrees of difficulty in getting out of the bed. There may be a mountain between you and the blankets, a mountain between youre dreams and reality, or a mountain between you and a desire to begin the day.) Climbing is important because it builds stamina and endurance, and tolerance to altitude, and it can lead you to leave your bed at crucial times.
Step 2) Should you see some stars from loss of oxygen, take a deep breath and keep going towards the bathroom.
Step 3) Once in the bathroom, dont overthink it. Turn on the hot and cold water, and adjust the temperature until there is a sense of peace in the downpour. Allow this peace to run on the back of your neck while you quietly tell yourself that you will get through the day.
Step 4) Your mind may be traveling many miles a second – in giving yourself some confidence (while you also clean yourself thoroughly with good soap) you’re able to ready the engine that is your mind, which hums inside the running hood of your body.
Step 5) Remember your body is made up of a lot of water, and now you’ve had water on you. You have the source, and you’ve been in the source as well. Branch out with that knowledge. After all, trees store sunlight within them, exactly why wood makes fire.

SUNSET INSIGHT – Left and right the old man saw people fighting. Over gold, over land, over statues, over status, over fields of wheat and the fish in streams, over groups protecting an idea, over memories and the dead bodies of ancestors, over blind hate or eyes clear full of fear, and over all of this, the old man saw the still, quiet star-glassed dome casting itself farther and farther.
He had made his way to the road where he would soon find the caravan carrying his wife, he thought. In his mind he could begin to see events unfold. Throughout his life there were times when he’d been able to imagine something that was close to happening, and then it would actually play out just like that, almost exactly how he’d seen it before in his mind. When he was younger, especially at the river, it was as if you had to imagine the fish were there, under the surface of the water, in order to catch them. Yes, that was part of it. Sensing them swiftly through underwater pebbles. Seeing it happen like that. But he also knew you had to keep your sanity. You did not, for instance, think that you always made everything happen. That was delusional. That drove people to madness.
After all, there was so much suffering everywhere, so who had imagined it beforehand? Then he remembered the way his wife could make him laugh without talking. Then he remembered a poem she sang him, about a bird made of gold that turned into a real bird and flew away, only to return again to make a nest for its babies. And now the sunset in front of him was the same color as his wifes hair when they were young.
One could imagine all the horror in the world, but the beauty in the world was overwhelming as well. Can we imagine that good things will happen? Maybe, the old man thought, our imagination has more power in the way of beauty. And with that, he set up camp for the night. He knew the next weeks would be hard, and cold, but for a moment his mind was at peace.
I make no claims to be good at this game. I know Highlander and Warlord pretty well, and so my videos try to show small things that can be done with them that maybe the viewer hasnt tried.
These days, in an average week, I only have a handful of hours to play games, if that. Again, I want to encourage all of you to really embrace the competitive scene, to learn how to play brawls as team fights, to try dominion and other team modes by learning the ins and outs of strategy, and for everyone to bridge the gap between competitive and casuals.
Also, take a break from gaming altogether and think about how you can expand your life. Open up your world with a good book if you get a chance. It can change your life.
