I had so much fun creating unique and multi-sensory soaps that today I'm attempting the "impossible" bath bomb. Considering how many people I've seen have trouble making these successfully, I was surprised to find how easy it was. I'm always excited to find new multi-sensory exciting things to do without vision. After two batches and 8 dozen, I think I'm set for the next year at least! But they've gone over smashingly with clients, family and friends alike, so why not give it a try!
What You'll Need:
- 1 cup Citric Acid
- 2 cups Baking Soda
- 1 cup Corn Starch
- 1 cup Epsom Salts
- 4 tsp Coconut Oil or Almond Oil
- 2 tsp Water (does not need to be distilled)
- Measuring Cup(s)
- Measuring Spoons
- 2 bowls (1 large, 1 small)
- Spray bottle with extra water
- Bath Bomb Moulds (I recommend metal moulds)
Optional:
- 1 good squeeze Soap safe colourants or Mika Powder
- 1 tsp Essential oil for scent
- small handful dried herbs or flowers (do not use cinnamon)
Instructions:
Step 1. Combine dry ingredients in the large bowl (citric acid, baking soda, corn starch, and Epsom salts (and optional herbs or flowers)) - mix with your hands or a spoon until evenly combined.
Step 2. Combine wet ingredients in the small bowl (water, oil, essential oil, colourant)
Step 3. Slowly add wet ingredients into dry ingredients mixing constantly to avoid bubbling.
Step 4. When well combined add additional water with a spray bottle until damp sand (sandcastle consistency) is achieved. Do not make it too wet and add water in slowly mixing each time.
Step 5. When desired consistency is achieved, pack the mixture into bath bomb mould halves and squash together with hands.
Step 6. Gently release it from the mould and let it dry for 24 hours in a muffin tin.
