This just happened to me. If your Apple Watch should always show the time but is blank, press the Digital Crown to wake it up, enter your passcode, then press the side button. You may have to scroll, but look for a Theatre Mode button. It’s a BAFTA-like image of two faces and if it’s on, the button will be yellow. And if it’s on, that’s your problem. Just tap to turn it off.
