Blackpool Pleasure Beach is facing a historic problem that limits their modernisation which could put the amusement park at risk of being left behind.
In this video, Scott uncovers the historic problem hiding in plain sight at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the fact that five of the park’s attractions are officially Grade II listed, meaning they cannot legally be removed, altered, or modernised. While this status protects their heritage, it also creates huge challenges for the park’s long-term development.
One of these listed attractions has already closed and now cannot be taken down due to its protected status, leaving a permanently closed structure at the park entrance.
The remaining four operational listed rides are very old and Scott explores the real possibility that some of them may soon reach the end of their operational life span. Without the option for major updates or modifications to modernise these attractions, how long is it before they become SBNO?
