Blackout testing in 3...2...1...

We’re testing our backup electricity system to see how quickly everything comes back online in the event of a power cut.

Because before we can turn everything on for passengers later this year, we need to know what happens when everything turns off.

About the Metro Tunnel Project

The Metro Tunnel will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the south east, with bigger and more modern trains, and 5 new stations. With testing now underway, the Metro Tunnel will open in 2025.
