I listened to this record all day today... Hearts LP by Blackbird Blackbird. Something about this speed and pitch, the vocal and the instrumental... hypnotic. I couldn't turn it off until I recorded this video (then I looped the video for like an hour)
This was recording using my Taruya BLUE cartridge, which has a sapphire needle. Something about the soft sound of sapphire fit so nicely with Blackbird Blackbird's songs. I got a new pre-amp too which I think improved the audio quality, and let me put my mixer into the chain.
At this speed (about +11% on the first track, +14% on the second) the midrange swelled up a bit, so I used a bit of EQ on my Mackie VLZ mixer to clean it up. I also used a bit of FabFilter's multiband compressor on the recording to further smooth things out. Think it turned out really nice.
