In Episode 60 of Between Two Dumbbells, Skip Hill and Dr. Christopher “Marv” Marvin DC sit down with legendary bodybuilding prep coach Cliff Wilson to discuss one of the most controversial questions in contest prep:

Do athletes of different ethnic backgrounds respond differently to peak week strategies?

In other words, Black vs White: Does Prep Work Differently?

Cliff shares his data-driven approach to physique peaking, including insights from coaching athletes across a wide range of genetic backgrounds, divisions, and federation levels. We also break down Cliff’s well-known Rapid Backloading protocol, how carbohydrate timing affects muscle fullness, and what actually matters most during peak week.

We also debate whether traditional lifts like the Big 3 (Squat, Bench, Deadlift) are still necessary for modern hypertrophy development, or if physique-focused training strategies have evolved beyond powerlifting roots.

As always, we wrap up with Intimate Time, where Cliff answers 10 completely non-bodybuilding questions.

If you're a physique athlete, coach, or serious lifter interested in evidence-based hypertrophy and smarter contest prep strategies, this episode delivers practical insights you can apply immediately.
