☾joonpiter's notes;
ik i'm suuuuuper late but i wanted to make a concept like this for black swan so here it is ahahaha. i decided to go with a figure skating idea bc i've always loved watching figure skaters and seeing them do what they love in their own element. just watching their focused faces and then seeing them persevere through each jump and flip,,, aaaa so amazing !! it always sends chills up and down my body. more importantly tho, it gives me hope and inspiration to continue to do the same in my own life and beloved doings. so, i hope you can also feel that through this edit.
in general, i find the theme of falling out of love with your passion or just feeling tired or inadequate in smth you love to do, to be so relatable - whether that be figure skating, dancing, singing, making art, playing sports, studying smth you love, etc. this orchestral version is so beautiful and chilling and it scores that theme so brilliantly. the melancholic yet hopeful sounds always bring me to tears bc it makes me think abt all the times someone out there has ever felt frustrated or tired in doing what they love (( like those hands through your hair, face in your hands kinda moments that have almost made you quit )).
for me, i think this is a normal feeling sometimes bc we naturally put all our effort and time towards smth we love or care abt. we always feel like we have to push ourselves more and more each time and that every single thing we do or put out has to be better than the last. ofc, this is the part where you need to remind yourself that it's ok to take breaks or that you are enough, that you are trying, that it is ok to fail or feel bored or tired or disconnected. this is all still true. but i also understand that as passionate and creative ppl, this is smth we have to mentally and emotionally go through sometimes. it's how we continue to grow and //really// live.
but despite how exhausting and draining it may be, smth magical always happens every time.
we get up.
we go to the next practice, we pick up another paintbrush, we attend the next day's lecture, we sign up for the next competition and are sleepless during the nights leading up it. and why? bc we are constantly reminded that we simply love that thing we do, and that this one thing we love is a part of who are. it's not just for those around us who are watching, but for ourselves. it engulfs us, day in and day out, and keeps our heart burning. in moments when we're doing smth else, it's still there in the back of our mind waiting on us to get back up.
so, here's to the things we love, and likewise, the crucial dark moments that often remind us of the things we love.
hoping you hold on to them as much as you can,
joonpiter ♡
