Arrow Video bring Black Sunday to Blu-ray, giving John Frankenheimer’s tense political thriller a brand new high-definition presentation.
In this review we take a close look at the packaging, picture quality, audio options and included extras.
The release arrives in a clear Amaray case with slipcover and includes a collector’s booklet featuring text and images from the film, along with reversible cover artwork. The film itself is presented in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and includes both 2-channel stereo and 5.1 audio options.
Picture quality is very strong for a standard Blu-ray presentation, offering sharp detail and a natural filmic look throughout — though it does raise the question of why this title wasn’t given a full 4K Ultra HD release.
Extras are unfortunately quite limited on this edition, but despite that this still represents a solid upgrade and another nicely presented release from Arrow Video.
Will you be adding Black Sunday to your Blu-ray collection?
