This Commodore 64 that I've been working on restoring only had a black screen when I bought it. The dead test and diagnostic ROMs behaved really weirdly. Ultimately, I found it was U8 that caused the problem which is a 7406 inverter/buffer.

This is a Mac Classic II purchased as part of the #Sour16 compact Macs. It had bad cap corrosion. I havent been able to fix it and it has a weird boot pattern that I havent been able to figure out.

I I have swapped almost every chip on this board... except the CPU. Lets see if swapping that fixes it.
