On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we catch the Delaware River Excursion train along River Road south of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The train was supposed to have steam locomotive #142, but the engine must have had a mechanical issue, so GP9 diesel locomotive#811 was called upon with the task of hauling the rest of the day’s trains. Not sure what the issue with #142 was, but the #811 is a fine engine in its own right, and this was our first time ever seeing it in operation.
