Our Black Rhino calf has a name...meet Sabi Star (pronounced Sarbi)!
Zoo keepers chose the name after the beautiful, rare and much loved flower found in Zimbabwe. The Sabi Star only flowers during harsh dry periods which keepers felt signified the struggle for life all livings things face in the wild. Sabi Star is now one month old and doing well. She is confident and inquisitive and has been following the lead of her experienced mother Bakhita.
Both mum and calf are currently behind-the-scenes and are expected to make their public debut on exhibit in early May.
