Muhammad Ali was never afraid to tell the truth out loud. Through his observations he noticed a Christianity filled with white images and little space for Black bodies. That awareness led him to ask his mother where are the images of Black people and do Black people go to heaven?

The colonization of Christianity isn’t a myth—it’s visible. Inspired by Rev. Otis Moss III’s reminder that we worship a melanated Savior who was decolorized to colonize, writers in our ecosystem penned “God of Color.”

As writer Jalen Seawright puts it:
“This song is my holy diss—the comeback to those who say they love Jesus yet withhold justice from their melanated siblings. We, too, are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image… His melanated image.”
