A trip into the Black Mountians Wales and onto Waun Fach on the border of England & Wales. Situated in the Brecon Beacons we start our trip towards Waun Fach in the Black Mountains by way of walking up Table Mountain near Crickhowell. Having walked briefly with my mother (a good lady) I pass over Pen Cerrig Calch and Pen Altt Mawr to finally camp at the foot of the mighty Mawr that is Waun Fach (811 Meters). A must walk in the Black Mountain of Wales the next day the wind is blowing, the cloud has descended and its spitting that mountain rain all good for setting the mood for this broody mountain. And so after a stormy night I find my way through elephant grass, bog and its ravine and with sheep for company the Real Waun Fach emerges with its flora, fauna and cavernous peat holes. Good fun in the Black Mountains of wales and Breconshire and definately stimulating for the cells. I recommend the wild country-it's just off the established trails.
