Ending Slavery’s Legacy of Racism: The Imperative for Strengthening Justice and Resilience in Afro-Descendant Communities in the Americas
Originally from Martinique, BLACK KALAGAN was cradled from an early age by the mixture of languages where Creole and French sounds mingle. Very quickly he takes a liking to words and puns. Later, in the neighborhoods, he encounters the flow and rhyme proclaimed by some young people. It is at this moment that everything starts, "he said." He thus began to write his first texts in the company of Saël and Reprez'i Donat in particular. At his majority BLACK KALAGAN leaves for France. This journey brings him to new discoveries. He is more and more inspired, wants and needs to describe and say what he sees, what he understands. On paper, the lines of writing follow one another and he declaims his texts from then on in all musical styles and genres. In search of satisfying his passion, he returned to his native land where he joined the art world and took part in his first slam scene, with "the SOUS LE GROUND collective". This experience is like a revelation, a turning point in his artistic life: free speech is now without social or racial barriers.
