Xavier Bravo dreams of bringing climbing to his Latine community, and with *Escala, he’s creating a movement.
Xavier was the recipient of the Black Diamond BIPOC SPI Program Grant in 2021, and also received our SPI Certification Grant the following year. Since then, he has used his certification to guide free programming and educational clinics to his community to reduce that barrier to entry.
*Since its inception in 2022, Escaladores Unidos has grown to serve over 1,000 Latine & Hispanic climbers across the US under their new name "Escala". To join or start a chapter, or help support their mission with a donation, visit their website at escalaclimbing.org.
