Woke up running in a one-light town,
Dust in my boots, never slowing down,
Daddy worked hard, mama prayed all night,
Taught me how to stand, taught me how to fight.
I was raised on the highway, born to run,
Underneath that burning sun,
Through the dust and through the rain,
Ain’t no chains gonna hold me again!
Worked that line from dusk ‘til dawn,
Sweat on my hands, but I kept holdin’ on,
Saw my brothers fall, saw my friends move on,
But I stayed here ‘cause this is my home.
I was raised on the highway, born to run,
Underneath that burning sun,
Through the dust and through the rain,
Ain’t no chains gonna hold me again!
Oh, this land is tough and the road is long,
But I’ll keep moving, I’ll stay strong!
I was raised on the highway, born to run,
Underneath that burning sun,
Through the dust and through the rain,
Ain’t no chains gonna hold me again!
