But this raises a bigger question: **Why are Black Americans always told to forget slavery?
America says “Never Forget” 9/11. Jewish Americans rightfully preserve the memory of the Holocaust. So why is remembering slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation considered “living in the past”?
This isn't about staying stuck in history. It's about understanding history while building **wealth, ownership and institutional power.
Individual Black success is NOT collective Black power.
Maybe we don't need less history. **Maybe we need more POWER behind the memory.**
