Bishop Marvin Winans is once again warning believers about listening to people confidently teaching scripture on the internet without properly understanding it. During the same sermon, he challenged members preparing for an upcoming $1,000 Day of Giving by pointing to the widow’s oil story in 2 Kings 4 and saying, “You got neighbors. Go ask.” In the biblical account, Elisha instructed the widow to borrow empty vessels from her neighbors before God multiplied her oil.
