Today I present to you an obscure cassette release, from the elusive & underground Bird O' Pray records cassette label, most well-known for releasing the first "real" efforts of Ween material. This tape was the first release for the label, in 1985. The heads of the label were Andrew Weiss & Jeff Rusnak, who would be an extremely important part of Ween's history as a band. Very little information about this tape is available online, as it had a very limited release and were made on-demand when somebody ordered them. The artists on this tape include Partners In Wonder, Fünkaphobia, Scornflakes, Something's Lacking, and Squealing Dead Things, among others. There is a running theme of the same people appearing on multiple tracks, as there were really only about 10 or so people involved, working under many pseudonyms. Andrew Weiss has songs under Mr. Doktir White and The Droid, as well as appearing on the Scornflakes & Partners In Wonder tracks. Other usual suspects would be Billy Tucker, Christopher Chang, Dean Bruni, Michael McGrath, & Sim Cain. "Esther Bowinkle" was the then-girlfriend of Andrew Weiss, who had no musical experience whatsoever. "Somethings Lacking" was a short-lived band founded by Harry Skopas, with very scarce info about them. "White Uhuru" was a side project of Christopher Chang & Andrew Weiss, who were also in Scornflakes along with Sim Cain & Billy Tucker. "Multisex" was a short-lived project of Thom Myernick, who was close friends with Dean Ween.
This tape has been available online but sourced from a damaged cassette with dropouts in quality present. This new rip is sourced from an undamaged cassette. Digitally ripped by Chris Buly, and repaired/uploaded by Arin Archived with permission of Chris Buly.
