Recently I rescued this young gull (spotted by someone else on holiday) dangling 8ft up in the air of a telephone wire, hooked by its foot from 6ft of fishing line.
In the middle of an empty field, behind our holiday site.
It looks like it had been there a while struggling, there were feathers all over.
So I drove the car around to the field gate, then I could drive underneath the bird, climb on the roof of my car to reach it, wrap it in a towel and cut it down.
I managed to cut the three pronged fish hook from its foot with wire cutters, with the help of the holidaymaker who’s spotted it.
After a few pecks at me while I checked it over, the young gull eventually flew away after a couple of mins.
Please be careful with your fishing line, it can cause so much untold suffering.
