Exploring my botanical embroidery (bird templates by - Forage by Lisa Mattock)

Lisa Mattock’s Alfred Template Guide is available on the Forage website. I have used her templates to cut out my wool birds. I will not be showing how to create Lisa’s quilt, but have used her pattern for the birds on my own wool background, and will be exploring my own botanical embroidery over all 20 blocks.

I cut up a beautiful gray checked scarf I had in my closet for the 20 block bases and have placed a very small precious piece of antique lace trim on each block. The birds were cut out from Lisa’s pattern using precious wool bits from my stash. The rest will be my handstitched embroidery. If anyone would like to join along on my YouTube channel in January, you would be most welcome. I will only be sharing my exploration of botanical embroidery in these videos, so for the bird pattern and block sizes, you will need to purchase Lisa’s pattern or invent your own. I can hardly wait to combine stitches to create my own beautiful botanicals for these pretty birds. 💕🪡🧵
