Renewable materials derived from biological sources have the potential to replace traditional fossil-based products and contribute to a more sustainable and circular economy.

A once-in-a-generation revolution could see plants, algae, and microorganisms overhaul entire industries, aid the transition from oil and gas to net zero, and present opportunities to create highly skilled jobs across the UK.

In this presentation, BBIA’s Dr Jen Vanderhoven shares some examples of bio-based products that can perform better than existing options while also being more sustainable and less toxic. She also discusses the issues surrounding the commercialisation of bio-based and biodegradable materials.
