thenameisgsarci | Billy Waldman - Prelude No. 5 in F minor (audio + sheet music) @thenameisgsarci | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 1 day ago
The Prelude No. 5, written in June of 2023, is inspired by the C minor prelude of JS Bach from Book I of the Well Tempered Clavier. A more modern approach to harmony is outlined in the 2 voice texture from Bach, while the staccato articulation is not only recommended to perform the piece, but required to adequately play repeated notes in tempo. The work is concluded with a syncopated Fm13 chord, confirming its contemporary origins.
(from the composer's own words)
