Billy had hidden himself away but he desperately needed our help. Someone had tied a plastic wire around his leg, more than likely when he was a puppy and was now cutting deeply into his skin and muscle. Much longer and the blood supply would have been damaged and we might not have been able to save his leg.
He was so very fearful but we managed to bring him to our hospital where we cut the plastic wire and thoroughly cleaned and bandaged the deep wound every day. We tried all we could to try and comfort Billy, but his nerves around people wouldn’t seem to ease.
It took 3 long months for Billy to heal and not only has his leg recovered, but his trust in people has grown too. He’s still not the biggest cuddle bug, but he certainly accepts a kind stroke or two.
