A brief run through of the setup we use for recording live improvised Psychill and Dub jams.
Essentially:
4 laptops - all running Ableton Live.
1 x laptop = master recorder
3 x laptops with Launchpads & midi controllers as clip and vst synth sources.
All laptops tempo synced via "Link" function.
5 sources - 3 x stereo laptops, stereo guitar fx, Bass guitar
Mixer - Behringer X Air 18 - i/o to master laptop via USB (18 simultaneous i/o)
Headphone amp distributes 3 x "more me" mixes plus one master mix to the main monitors..
