The Sherman Williams company presents "Bill Newcomb Did It". The purpose of this 1942 film is to illustrate how using style guides from Sherwin-Williams can help paint contractors assist in designing color schemes for homeowners. Several style guides are introduced to show how Sherwin-Williams paint is applied to make homes more beautiful. The film’s screenplay is by Albert Weeks, it’s directed by Jean Yarborough, photographed by Arthur Martinelli, edited by Leo Zochling, narrated by Erik Rolf, with sound by Karl Zint, and Edw. C. Jewell as the Art Director

Bill visits Mrs. Wentworth about the style guide (13:07). Bill is meeting with his brother-in-law and his wife discussing the style guide (15:04). Bill Newcomb returns to the Alden house to talk to Mrs. and Mr. Alden; they go over the style guide together (15:44). Bill and May discuss new sales ideas using the style guide (17:25). Bill’s brother-in-law meets with Mrs. Reeves about the style guide (17:59). Bill Newcomb approaches the neighbors of his customers to get new business (19:29). Bill visits a hotel to discuss painting rooms (21:15). Bill, May, and Bill’s brother-in-law discuss the benefits of the style guide (22:15). Various families peruse the style guides (23:29).
