For the first time, our student team has successfully ignited our battleship engine, marking a significant milestone in our new liquid propulsion project. Achieving this success took several months to address ignition and testbench issues, making us very proud of these results.
Our engine uses ethanol and nitrous oxide as propellants. We achieved ignition by firing a small solid model rocket motor through the engine's throat.
Our next steps will focus on understanding the ignition behavior of our engine, so stay tuned for more exciting videos in the future.
