In the first two months of lockdown in Metro Manila, public transport was grounded to a halt. Many Filipinos who didn’t own cars resorted to walking and biking. In June, when jeepneys and public transport were allowed back on the road, social distancing protocols put in place meant people just couldn’t cram into vehicles.
Bikes aren’t just an “alternative” form of transportation. They’re becoming the main way to commute around for many Filipinos in Manila and our associate editor Khyne is here to show you the scene.
