I live in the desert where is dry and very hot. The normal technique of drinking water from a bike water bottle does not work with rapid desert evaporation rates. I insure I am hyper-hydrated and peeing clear every 10 minutes before starting the ride and then use evaporation to my advantage. Total immersion of the biking outfit before the ride keeps me functioning at 100%. If pools, sprinklers or public fountains are available along the route then a dip every hour can extend biking range. A camelback with ice water can extend range as well.
