After having Michael Seiler from Stage 22 Performance on the Matchbox Podcast last week, I was curious about my own saddle tilt and turns out I'm one of the guys that has their saddle titled too far down. It was 5 degrees. I think I slowly started turning it more and more down as I tried to ride more and more of an aggressive aero position last summer when I had aero bars on my bike for a few months. Whoops.
😬
So since I've been stuck to indoor riding this week anyways I set my saddle back to a near flat (1.5 degree down tilt) to see how it felt and I'll have to admit, it was surprisingly comfortable. Once I set my saddle at the proper tilt I then repositioned my saddle fore/aft and saddle height to make up for this change and now feel quite a bit more comfortable while riding. I think my sitbones are now actually being supported by the saddle which is probably a good thing!
Thanks Michael and Adam for this healthy reminder!
