This is a comparison of belt drive and chain drive on bicycles that are ridden on the bike path at the beach. A bike path at the beach is always sandy, and there is also a lot of salt in the air. I ride both of these bikes at the beach very often for exercise, and one of them has belt drive and the other one has chain drive. In this video, we look at my belt drive bike and my chain drive bike after 1000 miles of riding and see which one is in better shape. A belt drive bike is lower maintenance than a chain drive bike, and you don’t have to lubricate the belt or do much other than wash it every once in a while with water. A chain drive bike requires cleaning and oiling on a regular basis to make it last as long as possible.
