One of our most requested videos ever, today we're searching for Florida's most famous invasive species, and the largest wild snake I've ever caught! Today we're heading into the wild in search of the famous Burmese Python!

Burmese Pythons, originally from parts of Southeast Asia and the Indo-pacific Islands, are one of the largest snakes in the world, being topped in size and weight only by the reticulated python and green anaconda. These massive snakes hatch over a foot long, and commonly grow over 12 feet in length, but on occasion can grow upwards of 20 feet! These snakes cause problems for the local fauna, particularly rare marsh birds, and the endangered american crocodile. Burmese pythons were introduced in the mid 1,900's, and have thrived ever since. While these snakes do cause issues, only licensed python hunters are allowed to take them out of the ecosystem, and removing any snake from this environment would be unlawful, so we have to release them back into the wild. These snakes cannot be fully irradiated from the environment, due to the vast area they've claimed, and their adaptable nature. Because of this, other species are closely monitored, and the Burmese python is beginning to be considered a new apex predator of South Florida.
