This is my new version of the Big Kahuna. It is a Face-Turning Rhombic Triacontahedron, with rather deep cuts.
I made my first attempt at designing this puzzle about 12 years ago, and it was a total dud. It locked up like crazy, and it eventually disintegrated in my hands. Looking back at the CAD over a decade later, I was shocked to discover that I had tried to make this puzzle work with only 2 shells. :shock:
The new version uses 4 shells, and it is unbelievably stable. It turns very smoothly, and it never locks up. This is one of the best puzzles I've ever made, up there with the new Nebula.
