This video covers the treacherous journey that Josie, Dollar and I made all the way to Manassas Virginia to pick up a large furnace along with all of it's accessories that was donated to Windy Hill Foundry by Manassas Electric.
The journey starts off as we are entering the mountains and discover our rear brake line has blown loose. To make matters worse the ball that blocks off that end of the van had seized and cause all the fluid to dump.
Fortunately we ended up at BROWN'S TIRE SERVICE LLC. I want to add that these guys wasted no time getting us in and back on the road in no time. I highly recommend them if you are ever in the Trenton Georgia area and need quality service 706-657-2200
As we continue our journey, the question of how big this load coming back will be was constantly haunting me. My trailer is equipped with electric brakes but the van does not have a brake controller. This would not be a simple plug and play procedure for the brakes and I was noticing with just an empty trailer alone, the van brakes were not going to be able to handle this.
We were invited by some very kind subscribers to stay with them. I invited the husband to ride along to Manassas with me and I'm glad I did. Because of his familiarity to the location and his navigational skills I avoided every toll road and traffic congested area. As we were having to come to a sudden stop, the reality of the brake problem was magnified as the van brakes were eating away to hold the empty trailer back. To make a long story short, he said he could help me get a controller installed so I wasted no time getting one at the nearest Tractor Supply. That night into the mid morning hours he installed the wiring and controller with attentive detail. From the nose to tail of that van the wiring harness was done to perfection. A factory installation would not have provided me the quality of comfort and safety that this guy put into it, I can't thank him enough. Even though the van could barely pull it's weight up the mountains we did have the ability to stop at sudden notice. Thankfully he was able to provide directions to avoid the steepest elevations as we returned home.
I didn't get a chance to meet Billy Snow's brother but Billy of Manssas Electric is a great guy. Very down to earth and through their generosity Windy Hill Foundry has a large capacity bronze furnace now that will be needed for some large pour jobs coming in mid 2022. If you need any electric motor/motor pump work I highly recommend talking to these guys first.

I was hoping to show the furnace in its final location along with the layout before concluding this video. It didn't happen but I will update you as we can. With all the preparation that went into getting ready for this trip, the Soule events coming back to back and the 12"Rucker straight edges coming, it makes for very challenging times as for cutting video and keeping everything else moving.
As I state in this video, the 2021 Soule Steam Festival cranks up on November 5th and 6th and I'd really like to see you and your family come out and join us. There is something for everyone to see.
