Joint Press Release

The Workers Party and ICA (Independent Candidate Alliance) have agreed to work together to avoid unnecessary electoral clashes in the Birmingham local elections.

101 seats are to be contested in May 2026 where Labour has presided over failing services, and industrial strife. Speaking for the Workers Party, Deputy Leader Imtiaz Ahmad said,

"We are pleased to be collaborating with Akhmed Yaqoob and Shakeel Afsar, and their team at the ICA. We hope to keep any potential clashes to a minimum, and have engaged with other independent forces to try and achieve the same. We believe there is a good prospect of forging a united front to unseat Labour from power."

Around 50 seats so far have been identified where our groups believe we can avoid clashes and we have prospective candidates in place.

Those wishing to join this grand alliance should apply to stand as candidates by writing to either the Workers Party or ICA.
