On October 1st and 2nd, 2021, the 14th annual edition of the arcade esports competition returned to its hometown - Chicago! It was the World Championship’s first time back in the Windy City in six years - but the firsts didn’t end there! It was the event’s first time appearing at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, Ill., the first time new divisions allowed top-performing women and rookies to boost their cash earned from the massive $100,000 prize pool and - perhaps the biggest first of all - the number of participants doubled from 64 to 128! A total of 21,361 Big Buck Hunter players around the globe attempted to qualify for Big Buck World Championship XIV, but only the best 128 hunters received an invitation to Chicago. This colossal, double-elimination tournament spanned two days - and at the end of it all, only one hunter would hoist the coveted Pappy’s Jug trophy and a $20,000 check.
Preparations are already underway for the 2022 season, which kicks off on November 1st, 2021. To qualify, players need only participate in Pro Mode, available at all online Big Buck Hunter cabinets around the world.
