Judge Orlando Garcia did not issue a temporary restraining order in the case of border security construction in Big Bend National Park on Friday, instead meeting with both sides and agreeing to a pause.

This means until at least September 15, there will not be any construction, ground movement, or new activity within the national park.

The judge did this so that the U.S. government and The People of La Junta for Preservation, members of the Lipan Apache tribe, and Big Bend business owners can meet and get a clearer idea of what is planned for the area.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity, and we are basically demanding that they start telling the American people the truth," said Billy Bartko, one of the plaintiffs in the case. He runs Far Flung Outdoor Center in Big Bend.

Before court began, protestors held signs outside the federal courthouse in San Antonio calling for wall construction to stop and for Big Bend to be preserved.
