The rishis, the sages of ancient India taught that enlightenment is the highest goal of human life. They called it moksha or mukti, which means liberation, freedom, not just freedom from rebirth, but freedom from all the struggle and suffering of day to day life. Those who seek enlightenment follow a variety of spiritual paths and they engage in various spiritual practices. But what is it exactly that they are seeking through all that? What is enlightenment? And how is it actually attained?
In the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna thoroughly explains both the nature of enlightenment, as well as the means to reach it. For this video, I carefully selected five important verses that convey the essence of his teachings on enlightenment.
