The stock motor of my mill bit the dust, so it was time for an upgrade. As I had been wanting some more speed and control, I settled on a 1.5kw servo motor to replace the stock DC motor. This gives me very fine control over the spindle speed and lots of feedback. To mount the new spindle, I needed some custom mounts, that I had to machine. While I was at it, I also converted the spindle to belt drive instead of the stock gears, to cut down on the noise a bit.
