I’ll walk you through:
- Why I’m creating a personal curriculum
- How I’m structuring it to stay curious (without overwhelm)
- The tools I’m using (Notion, journals, mind mapping)
- The first subject I’m diving into this autumn
This is my take on self-directed learning and it fits well into my slow living journey. I’m choosing depth over distraction, presence over constant scrolling, and bringing back that cozy “back-to-school” feeling as an adult.
Whether you’re interested in intentional learning, slow living lifestyle inspiration, or just need ideas for adult learning, I hope this gives you the spark to create your own personal syllabus.
Check out these great online tools to hep you get organised.

Playing digital paper dolls is a favorite pastime of mine. It helps me visualize what pieces go together and then I can see what pieces will fit best in my wardrobe and give me the most outfit combinations.

It’s cooler today with a bit of rain this morning, so the sweetheart blouse from The House of Foxy was the perfect top to pair with trousers from Halara. I wasn’t sure if this color combination worked, but you know what?? I love it!

Was Home Economics ever really about apple pies and aprons?
Or was it something much more radical?
In this video, I take a deeper look at the surprising feminist origins of Home Economics—how it began as a science-based movement to improve women’s lives, and how it slowly became dismissed as outdated or oppressive. Spoiler: the history is more complex than it looks.
From time-saving kitchen innovations and public health education to career training and scientific research, Home Ec once aimed to free up women’s time so they could access more choices—not fewer.
But after WWII, that mission shifted. So… what happened?
What you'll learn in this video:
- The real roots of Home Economics in feminism, science, and public policy
- How it was used to open doors for women in higher education and work
- Post-war shifts that changed how we view domestic work today
- My personal reflections on homemaking, feminism, and intention vs. impact
- Where Home Ec stands today—and why people still want these skills

05:54 Empowerment...With Strings Attached

Welcome to my Viennese home! In this video, I’m giving you a full tour of our apartment, located in a historic 1897 building here in Vienna, Austria.
Our space is a blend of old-world charm and personal touches, with vintage and antique decor ranging from Victorian to Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and even Mid-Century. From the original parquet floors and high ceilings (4 meters high!) to the antique finds and personal touches, I’ll show you how I’ve made this historic space feel like home.
My husband and I moved to Vienna from the U.S. in 2023, and finding the right apartment was a journey in itself. If you enjoy character-filled interiors, vintage living, or just love seeing how others create a home abroad, I think you’ll enjoy this tour.
In this video:
• A full walkthrough of our 1897 apartment
• Eclectic vintage-inspired decor across eras
• Original architectural details and modern comforts
• How we made this space feel like home

Looking for quick, vintage-inspired hairstyles to help you stay cool in the summer heat? In this video, I’m sharing seven of my go-to summer vintage hairstyles—all created from a single wet set. These heat-free styles are easy to do, keep your hair off your neck, and still let you look put-together and true to your vintage style.
If you’ve watched my series The Life Cycle of My Wet Set, this video follows a similar idea: one strong set, styled in different ways over the course of a week. Some of these styles have full tutorials, which I’ve linked below, while others are newer looks I walk through briefly here.
Whether you're dealing with hot, humid weather (like I am here in Vienna) or just looking for no-fuss vintage hair ideas, these styles are perfect for summer.

My husband, Mildred and I recently took a two-week road trip through the French countryside, visiting towns around Poitiers, Angoulême, and the Loire Valley to see if any of them could be “the one.”
My latest YouTube video is the start of a slower, more intentional journey to find a place where we can one day settle down. Think charming villages, market days, riverside walks, and a lot of beautiful scenery.
Watch the full video on my channel now.
Do you have a favorite French region we should visit next? Let me know in the comments!
We spent two weeks road-tripping through central and western France, visiting the areas around Poitiers, Angoulême, and Tours to see if any of these regions could be the right fit for our future retirement. We stayed in a quiet countryside gîte, visited charming villages and market towns, and evaluated each place based on what matters most to us: access to healthcare, proximity to Paris, local markets, mild weather, community life, and architectural charm.
This isn’t a “we’re moving” vlog — we’re still years away from retiring. But this is the beginning of a slower, more intentional journey to find a place where we can one day settle down and build a new chapter of our life in France.
Towns we visited include:
Poitiers · Chauvigny · Ruffec · La Rochefoucauld · Jarnac · Angoulême · Loudun · Chinon · Azay-le-Rideau · Amboise
If you’re also dreaming of retiring in France, curious about small-town life, or just love slow travel through the French countryside, I hope you enjoy coming along for the ride.

I’ve wanted an excuse to finally wear this custom 1930s dress from @yearsgonebyboutique I had it made just before we left for Vienna and I absolutely love it.
We didn’t end up staying too long at the soirée because it was just too bloody hot in that room. But we saw a few performances, including the stunning @luisevonpuderluder
After we left Hades…we skipped over to the gorgeous bar at the @diejosefinewien . Apparently it’s billed as an “American Bar”. Not really sure what that means, but they had AC and a ginormous drink list.
So we sat and chatted and had a grand ole time. Thanks @miss_uta for braving the heat to try and have some fun.

Wondering how much small YouTubers actually make? In this video, I’m pulling back the curtain on my income after five years on YouTube, four of which I’ve been monetized. I’m sharing what YouTube has paid me through AdSense, how the monetization system works, and why I’ve chosen not to chase trends or go viral at any cost.
I’ll also talk about the emotional ups and downs of being a vintage content creator, my honest thoughts on the “1950s housewife for a day” trend, and how I stay true to my values even if it means growing more slowly. Plus, I’ll give you a peek into my filming setup, my other income streams (like Patreon and Vintage Style Sessions), and what I’ve learned after years of creating thoughtful, slower content in a fast-paced digital world.
Whether you’re thinking of starting a YouTube channel, curious about what goes on behind the scenes, or just want a realistic look at small creator income—this one’s for you.

From the 1945 occupation to Austria’s return to independence in 1955, this exhibit shares what life was really like in a divided city.
As it was D-Day, I wore my 1940s-inspired airplane blouse and bomber brooch for the occasion and a blue linen skirt from Emmy with sandals from Memery Shoes

In this episode of Vintage Life in the Modern World, we’re diving into self-care—slow, intentional, and rooted in everyday life.
Forget the overpriced “treat yourself” trend. We’re going back to a time when beauty routines were simple, thoughtful, and built into daily rhythms. As a licensed esthetician with over 18 years of experience, I’m sharing how vintage beauty habits can still support us today—with a modern, healthy twist.
You’ll learn:
- How skincare evolved from the Victorian era to the 1960s
- Why some vintage beauty habits are worth bringing back (and which ones we should leave behind)
- How to create simple rituals that restore your skin and your spirit
- The truth about rest, intentional routines, and why they mattered so much in the past
- My favorite “high-maintenance once, low-maintenance later” beauty practices
We’re not romanticizing the past—we’re borrowing its wisdom and using it to make modern life a little softer.
So grab a cup of tea and join me for a cozy chat about beauty, rest, and slowing down.

In this video, I take you along to three of the most beautiful Easter markets in Vienna: Freyung, Schönbrunn Palace, and Am Hof. These charming markets celebrate the arrival of spring with hand-painted eggs, traditional crafts, seasonal treats, and a joyful atmosphere.
As someone who doesn’t celebrate Easter (I celebrate Ostara and the Spring Equinox), I’ve come to love these markets for their focus on nature, renewal, and simple seasonal beauty. I’ll also show you how I decorate my own Osterbaum (Easter tree) using willow branches and a few special eggs we’ve collected from the markets over the past two years.

I’ve been using jojoba oil on my hair (mostly the ends) lately to give it a bit more moisture and shine. We picked up this tube of Pento hair cream the last time we were in France. It’s basically Brylcreme, which I normally use, and it works very well. It has just enough hold for a bouncy brushout.

Have you ever looked at an everyday object and thought, “Wow, this didn’t need to be this beautiful… but I’m glad it is”? In this video, I explore a time when beauty and function went hand in hand—from ornate Victorian sewing kits to Art Nouveau curling irons and even vintage toasters with spiderweb designs.
Since moving to Vienna, I’ve been surrounded by stunning architecture and thoughtful design details that made me wonder: When did we stop caring about art and beauty in everyday objects? Join me as I dive into the history of design, from the artistry of handcrafted items to the rise of mass production during the Industrial Revolution, the impact of the World Wars, and the minimalist shift in the mid-20th century.
Let’s celebrate the beauty hidden in plain sight!
What’s an object you’ve seen in your daily life that’s purely beautiful, even though it didn’t need to be? Share it in the comments—I’d love to hear about it!
