The Mega Drive was an absolute powerhouse for shmups during the 16-bit era. But for all the great original titles and arcade conversions released, there are plenty which slip through the gaps despite being well worth your time.

Bringing us to Toaplan's Fire Shark, the adaptation of their 1989 arcade release, published in 1990 (for Japan & the US) and 1991 (for Europe & PAL regions).

As it turns out Fire Shark is one of four Toaplan releases (alongside Truxton, Hellfire & Zero Wing) to be reissued by @RetroBitGaming as part of their "Toaplan Shooters" series. More info about that is at: retro-bit.com/toaplan-shooters
